About us

About the Ashram

Shri Gita Ashram was established in 1960 near Swarg Ashram, Rishikesh, on the sacred Nilkanth Road. Spread across 75 bighas of land, the ashram serves as a spiritual hub for seekers, saints, and devotees.

Founded by Brahmalin Mahamandaleshwar Swami Ved Vyasanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj, the ashram is dedicated to the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, spiritual discipline, and selfless service.

We are committed to preserving spiritual values and guiding humanity towards inner peace.

A Divine Place for Spiritual Growth

Shri Gita Ashram offers a serene environment where individuals can connect with spirituality through satsang, yoga, meditation, and seva.

The ashram actively serves society through food distribution for saints, गौ सेवा (cow protection), education through Gita Baal Vidyalaya, and spiritual publications.

It continues to inspire generations with the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita and the teachings of its revered Gurus.

Life & Legacy of Gurudev

Early Life & Tapasya

Brahmalin Mahamandaleshwar Swami Ved Vyasanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj was born in Mirapur, Uttar Pradesh, in a religious Brahmin family.

He performed intense spiritual practices, living a life of austerity—walking barefoot, wearing simple robes, and renouncing comforts like salt and sweets. He completed multiple Gayatri mantra anushthans of 24,000 repetitions.

Spiritual Mission & Global Impact

He traveled across India, Tibet, and Nepal, spreading the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and establishing Gita temples, satsang centers, and schools.

He was honored as Mahamandaleshwar in 1997 and served as Vice-Chancellor of Rishikul Brahmachari Ashram.

He also spread Gita teachings internationally through tours to America and Europe, inspiring the construction of a Hindu temple in Washington.

About Swami Shantananand Ji Maharaj

Swami Shantananand Ji Maharaj was a devoted disciple of Gurudev Brahmalin Swami Ved Vyasanand Ji and was nurtured under his guidance from childhood.

In 1975, he took responsibility for Anand Ashram as per Gurudev’s instructions and later became the head of Shri Gita Ashram.

He played a key role in establishing the Ashram’s trust in 1995 and constructing the grand Samadhi Temple.

After Gurudev’s Mahasamadhi in 1992, he carried forward the spiritual mission with dedication until his Brahmalin on February 11, 2000, at the age of 47.
